Fuglsang Art Museum

A magnificent 2,500 square metre architectural structure has been erected on the Fuglsang Estate. The building constitutes a unique framework for the collections in the Fuglsang Art Museum, which is one of the few broadly comprehensive art museums in the Zealand Region.

Fuglsang Art Museum

The museum houses an exquisite collection of Danish art from the end of the 18th century until today and includes paintings, sculptures and sketches. The main emphasis for paintings and sculptures is placed on the period 1900 to 1950, in particular early Danish modernism ca. 1915-1930. The museum’s huge collection of drawings, watercolours and graphic works are mainly from the 20th century.

Fuglsang Art Museum - interieurFuglsang Art Museum has variable showings of their own works and arranges several special exhibitions annually. Moreover, the showings and special exhibitions are complemented with a diverse programme of arrangements and presentations. There is also an interdisciplinary school service attached to the museum.

Fuglsang represents something rather special in that it affords you an opportunity to combine art and nature experiences in one place. Fuglsang Art Museum and Fuglsang’s history together with Fuglsang Park and its exceptional natural surroundings provide a unique experience.

Fuglsang Art Museum - interieurThe new art museum is an important cultural addition to the area, not least by virtue of the recognised English architect Tony Fretton’s building, which lends itself beautifully to both the art and the location.
Fuglsang Art Museum contains the following facilities: café, shop, art workshop, school services and auditorium.

Panorama: 200 years of Danish visual arts from the museum’s collections

The Panorama show: 200 years of Danish visual arts from the museum’s collections illustrates all at once the scope and quality of the museum’s collections.

Chronologically, the period covered stretches from the end of the 18th century until today, and across the exhibition floor of the museum the history of Danish art is represented from the golden age on to the modern, abstract paintings.
