Exhibition of flip-flops in the Collector’s Room (Samlernes Rum) at the Diocesan Museum (Stiftsmuseet) in Maribo.

Flip-flops were introduced as modern footwear in the 1960’s. However, flip-flops represent in all probability the oldest form of footwear that is still in use. There are depictions of flip-flops on ancient Egyptian murals in graves and temples from around 4000 BC. The oldest preserved example of flip-flops is made of papyrus leaf from around 1500 BC and can be found in the British Museum. The exhibition can be experienced until 30th January 2010.

Læs mere om 'Klimatur - en virtuel udstilling'Exhibition at the Diocesan Museum in Maribo about climate changes that have occurred on Lolland-Falster over time.

Is climate change something new or is it a phenomenon that has affected the planet throughout history? Museum Lolland-Falster focuses on this issue in its coming special exhibition Climate Tour. The exhibition will be a new and alternative form of exhibition. Combined with the culture historical exhibition, climate changes that have occurred on Lolland-Falster throughout history are communicated through the virtual world Second Life. Consequently, visitors will gain an insight into climate and landscape changes on Lolland-Falster in the Ice Age, Stone Age, Viking times, the Middle Ages, the Little Ice Age in the 17th century and the flood of 1872.

The individual periods are constructed as scenarios based on professional and technical knowledge and are thus as realistic as possible. The whole show revolves around a time machine which has been mystically manufactured by the blacksmith at the Open Air Museum in Maribo. It is this time machine and the blacksmith that take the visitors on the historical Climate Tour.

Access to the Climate Tour will be via computers which are set up at the Diocesan Museum’s premises at Banegårdspladsen in Maribo. The scenarios can be accessed there during the museum’s opening hours and it will be possible for schools, institutions and private persons to travel back in time.

Læs mere om udstillingen 'Ung i tiden - fra 1950 til i dag'Exhibition in the great hall of the Diocesan Museum in Maribo about the youth culture in our part of the country from 1950 to the present day.

Parties and chores, confirmation, love, family and school, fashion and friends, mopeds and music. A great number of young people both past and present have supplied accounts, photographs and objects to the exhibition. They have all contributed their individual elements to create a complete picture of life as a young person on Lolland-Falster both then and now. The exhibition not only becomes an important testimony to youth culture in the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, but also an insight into what the youth of today think about being a young person on Lolland-Falster.

The exhibition is build up as journey through adolescence that starts with the confirmation parties and ends with the wedding. Along the way, the public are invited to take a stroll down memory lane and experience once more the sights and sounds of their own youth. The exhibition plays on all the senses, so it will be possible to hear again a lot of good music from the past 60 years.

The museum’s guests can also contribute to the exhibition by availing of the possibility to hang pictures and other mementos in the exhibition and write reminiscences directly to the museum. ”Young people in time” is the first great special exhibition in Museum Lolland-Falster's lifetime.

Læs mere om udstillingen 'Sundt, sjovt og socialt'The exhibition in the Czar’s House (Czarens Hus) in Nykøbing F. will present alternately over an eighteen-month period a broad selection of athletic associations and sports clubs.

The wrestling club Thor is the first club out on the mat, which is a very fitting choice in light of Mark O. Madsen’s participation in the Olympic Games. In the exhibition, we show various effects that have been kindly loaned to us by the club, amongst others the impressive Sandemand Cup (Sandemandpokal) which the club won in the mid 1920’s.

In the summer of 2009, a special exhibition about the local branch of the Danish Cyclists Federation was shown.

In addition, the exhibition also shows a broad selection from the museum's collection of photos of the famous and epoch-making gymnastic apostle, I.P. Müller. The I. P. Müller exercise program from 1904, entitled "Mit System" became world-famous. It was translated into 24 languages and more than 2 million copies were published. I. P. Müller belonged to the vitalism movement in sport during the first quarter of the 20th century. The special exhibition ”Healthy, fun and social” shall also in cooperation with a number of Danish museums, including Fuglsang Art museum form part of an overall presentation of vitalism.

Herakles Gymnastic Association (Gymnastikforeningen Herakles ). There was no association to sdedicated gymnastic in Nykøbing until 1936. One could go to gymnastics in a sports club which apart from its own particular sport also offered gymnastic instruction. This led a handful of men to establish the Herakles Gymnastic Association, which was well received. Over the years the membership rose steadily and from the 1960’s onwards there were many different teams both exercise and competition teams. On numerous occasions over the years, the association’s competition teams reached the pinnacle of success in their sport. The exhibition tells the history of the association and shows some of the high points along the way.
