Nykøbing Falster

The biggest town on Falster, Nykøbing Falster, is a delightfully charming town, nicely situated by the waters of Guldborgsund. The town has an extensive grid of pedestrian streets with shops and cafés. This is also where you find The Medieval Centre, Guldborgsund Zoo and various museums. Offering a wide selection of accommodation and restaurants, Nykøbing Falster makes for a good base to explore the area.

Maribo

The cathedral town of Maribo graciously invites you to visit the cathedral by the lake, go for a stroll in the old town next to the cathedral, make a stop at the market square and continue down the modern shopping street. Maribo lies in the middle of nature park Maribo Lakes where you can go for a ride with the tour boat Anemonen. A little north of Maribo you find Knuthenborg Safari Park.

Nakskov

Characterized by its beautiful setting at the end of Nakskov Fjord, Nakskov is the biggest town on Lolland. It has many charming historic lanes and streets, among these one of the oldest pedestrian streets in Denmark. Experience the beautiful bay landscape on a trip with the former fjord Post Boat or visit Frederiksdal Cherry Wine where you get to taste the winery’s world famous cherry wine.

Nysted

Nysted is superbly placed in a small, protected cove on the south coast of Lolland. Enjoy its beautiful historic houses and narrow streets and experience the harbour with the breathtaking view of Aalholm Castle. From the harbour, you can go on a seal safari or enjoy the annual regatta of historic sailing ships. Approximately 10 km northeast of Nysted you can visit Fuglsang Kunstmuseum (art museum) and the adjacent Fuglsang Manor.

Sakskøbing

Sakskøbing’s landmark is the smiling water tower, and it has every reason to smile as Sakskøbing lies beautifully at the end of Sakskøbing Fjord. Apart from being a pleasant small town, Sakskøbing is also the place to experience the iconic South Sea Islands Fruit Festival as well as Hotel Saxkjøbing where the menu is strongly influenced by the food philosophy of the well-known Danish cook Claus Meyer.

Rødby

Rødby (Rødbyhavn) is not just where the ferries go between Denmark and Germany, it is also home of the popular tropical holiday centre and water park Lalandia, offering lots of fun activities. You may also decide to visit the Femern A/S Information Centre to learn more about the world’s longest immersed tunnel to be built between Denmark and Germany.

Stubbekøbing

In Stubbekøbing, attractively situated by the sea on northern Falster, you can stroll about between the buildings and merchant’s houses from the 18th century and visit Denmark’s Motorcycle Museum with the biggest collection of veteran motorcycles in Northern Europe. In the summer there is a connection between Stubbekøbing and the island Bogø via the historic ferry Ida.

Gedser

It is impossible not to be in awe of nature’s power when standing at Gedser Odde, feeling the strong winds and watching the impressive Østersø waves beat against the coast and eat from the clay cliffs. Denmark’s southernmost point is a special experience and one of the hidden gems of Lolland-Falster.
