You can start the tour anywhere you like but the route described here starts at the tourist information office at Marielyst. You'll find places to eat in Marielyst, but you can also "refuel" on the way at grocery stores in Væggerløse and Marrebæk.
Opposite the Marielyst Tourist Information Office (1) you'll find the tour's first play area with climbing frames, swings and roller coaster without a track! If you don't have your own cycles, they can be hired in the tourist information office.
Drive to Marielyst Strandvej, which later in the summer is abloom with a profusion of sunflowers. The first stop on the tour is at the top of Væggerløse hill – the tour's first and only hill. From here you can expect to be rewarded with unique views over Bred-ningen to Lolland and the white art museum Fuglsang. When you have caught your breath, it's time to go exploring in the old Stouby mill dating from 1790. Nearby at the side of the mill you'll find the Stouby glass house (3), where the owner Line has a working garage, shop and exhibition in the charming old Møllegård which is here.
Marielyst – the Play and Learn tour continues to the south via the Gedser Landevej. Radbjerg Landevej is a lovely little country road with little traffic where there are fields, countryside and fantastic views over Guldborg Strait and Hasselø. You'll pass Marrebæk canal, where there is the opportunity to fish – remember your fishing licence (can be purchased at Marielyst Tourist Information Office).
In Bøtø Nor Gl. Pumpestation (5) the story of the rec-lamation of Bøtø Nor and about the flood in 1872 is told. The old steam pump still operates on selected days. The pumping sta-tion's current 6 pumps are set up in the building located behind and together have a pumping capacity of 6,400 litres a second! The tour continues via Marrebæk (6) to Marielyst Go-Kart(7), where speed is the order of the day. Swap your hard pedals for light pressure on the accelerator. There are karts and tracks for both adults and children, so everyone can take part. You can also buy drinks here.
When you've got the need to speed out of your system, it's time to head for Marielyst or take a detour to the Bøtø bird reserve. The bird reserve is reached by travelling from Bøtø Ringvej, down past Trevlekronevej which opens out onto Lævej. From the bird towers you can observe the rich bird life in the 110 ha large bird reserve. The detour is 6 km.
The next stop is Lupinparken's play area which is in natural surroundings (8), and has climbing frames and mega-swings. Here, children can also use their smartphones to go on a treasure hunt while adults can take a well-earned rest in the large net hammock in the playground. At Larsens play area (9) you can round off the tour with a flight in its super jumper – the trampo-line and elastic ropes throw you 8 metres into the air! The play area also has activities for younger children plus a restaurant and bar where you can enjoy a pint..
