Kayak Trip: Vejlø tour, 4 - 9.5 km

TUR VEJLØ – 6,5 KM FROM NAKSKOV – 5 KM FROM LANGØ – 4 KM FROM HESTEHOVED – 9 FROM KM ALBUEN BEACH

Did you know, that you can see this route and many other nature experiences in the app “Naturlandet”. The app can be downloaded in App Store or Google Play. All information is accessible in English, Danish and German – the app is FOR FREE.

Vejlø:

You are allowed to moor at the bridge, just don’t interfere with the touring boat (Postbåden). Often it is better to go ashore on the small sandy beach west of the bridge. There are very shallow waters east and north of Vejlø. Please do not go ashore on the northern tip, as many birds breed here.

Tour description/experiences:

The island of Vejlø is the largest privately owned island in Nakskov Fjord. They still farm the land as they did 50 years ago. The fields are sheltered by the many hedgerows and orchards. Vejlø is probably best known for its camps (www.oelejr.dk) that have now taken place every summer since 1971. Vejlø has a special atmosphere of the olden days. Some tractor enthusiasts will probably find the island particularly interesting as all the island’s old tractors and other machines have been left all over - in some cases, where they finally came to a halt.

Practical information:

Nearby toilet facilities are found at Tårs, Albuen, Enehøje, Hestedhoved and Langø. Fresh water is found in the same places, except at Albuen where you will have to bring fresh water yourself.

Information about tents and shelters can be found on the app "Shelter" and shopping options are only possible at Nakskov Fjord Camping and in the city of Nakskov.

Many of the islands and islets in Nakskov Fjord are protected and please pay particular attention to the breeding season where some of the islands and islets are "closed".
