KØSTEN stage 4 offers a varied hiking route through Bøtø Forest and onwards to Gedser at the southern tip of Falster. The route mainly follows gravel paths and forest tracks, while the final kilometres continue along quiet country roads into the town. Along the way, the scenery changes between dense woodland, open meadows, sea dikes and coastal stretches with views across the Baltic Sea.

Bøtø Forest and the Bøtø Nor Nature Reserve are home to a rich variety of wildlife and birdlife. The area is particularly well known for bird migration, but you may also encounter butterflies, wild horses and grazing cattle. These animals help maintain the open landscape and create valuable habitats for many species. Please observe the wild horses and cattle from a distance and do not feed them.

Several picnic areas with tables and benches are located along the route, providing pleasant places to take a break. The stage passes some of Falster's most important birdwatching sites before continuing to Gedser Odde and Denmark's southernmost point. Here, you will experience an open coastal landscape shaped by wind, with wide views across the Baltic Sea.

The route also tells the story of the area's history. Along the way, you can discover sites that reflect the landscape's development since the Ice Age, Falster's role during the Second World War and the Cold War, and the former train and ferry connection between Gedser and mainland Europe.

In Gedser, you will find shops, restaurants and several accommodation options. At the marina, there are shelters and a campsite, as well as access to the beach, toilets and other visitor facilities.

Stage 4 is ideal for hikers looking for a route that combines nature, wildlife, coastal scenery and local history. All access to the route is at your own risk.

Discover more experiences along the route in the Naturlandet app, on the Visit Lolland-Falster website, or at our tourist information offices.
