KØSTEN - Etape 2
KØSTEN Stage 2 offers 15 kilometres of hiking along Falster’s eastern coastline, where beech forests meet the Baltic Sea. Discover coastal cliffs, cultural landmarks and sweeping sea views along the route.

KØSTEN Stage 2 is one of the most scenic hiking routes on Falster. This 15-kilometre stage follows the island’s eastern coastline from Hesnæs Harbour to Ulslev Strand through a landscape where beech forests meet the Baltic Sea. Steep coastal cliffs, varied beaches and wide-open views create a memorable nature experience.
From the charming harbour at Hesnæs, the route heads south along the coast through the extensive Corselitze forests. Here, beech trees grow right up to the cliffs overlooking the Baltic Sea, and several sections of the trail follow the coastline with uninterrupted sea views. On clear days, the panorama stretches far across the water, while early mornings often offer spectacular sunrises.
Nature lovers can enjoy a rich variety of wildlife and plant life along the way. The large forest areas are home to roe deer, while sea birds and birds of prey are frequently seen along the coast. In several places, visitors may find fossils on the beach or simply enjoy the peace and quiet far from towns and traffic.
The stage also offers fascinating cultural history. At Pomle Nakke, a historic seaside inn enjoys a unique location overlooking the sea, while Halskov Vænge features one of Denmark’s most impressive collections of burial mounds and dolmens. Along the route, hikers also pass the former Donnemose Holiday Colony and Generalens Lysthus, both reflecting life along Falster’s eastern coastline through the generations.
KØSTEN Stage 2 ends at Ulslev Strand, where coastal meadows, birdlife and open seaside landscapes define the surroundings.
The hiking route is reserved for walkers and typically takes 4-5 hours to complete without breaks. It is an excellent choice for hikers seeking dramatic coastal scenery, cultural heritage and peaceful natural surroundings on Falster.
Cycling and horse riding are not permitted on the route. All access is at your own risk.
